  • Step 1: Make sure your thermostat is set to ‘heat’ and turned to above room temperature.
  • Step 2: If the pilot light is not lit follow these steps.
  • Step 3: Be sure gas to furnace is on.
  • Step 4: Turn knob on gas valve to pilot.
  • Step 5: Press knob down and hold.
  • Step 6: Check Thermocouple.
  • Step 7: The gas valve needs 24 volts to operate so a transformer.
  • Step 8: Gas valves are always the last thing to replace since they are the most expensive part.
  • Step 9: Finish.
